   There are only two computers that are “under $1000″ and neither is very good for video editing. If you’re serious about video editing, go for the Mac Pro desktop. Or, since money seems to be a concern, just get a Windows-based PC and use Adobe Premiere Pro.

   There are a couple of ways to get Macs at a lower price: educational discount (worth about 15%) and Apple refurbs (sold by Apple, and fully tested and warranted by them – see link on the store home page). This may make it possible to get a Pro down to your price bracket. Ed discount also applies to Final Cut Pro if I remember correctly – which could allow you more to spend on the Mac.

   get the macbook refurbished go to aple.com click on store scroll down and you will see a blue tag that says sale and click ‘refurb mac’

   Another option is going the hackintosh route.
