Car Crash, Teleportation and Nudity. – Film Riot Do You Think Uwe Boll Is The Modern Day Ed Wood Of Film-making?
Jan 182012

I’m going to school next fall at Asbury University (a Christian college with a HUGE emphasis on communications) and I’m doing a double major of Film Studies and Production and Creative Writing, with a minor in Acting. I want to eventually become a director. After I finish school, where is the best place to start? Film Festivals, or getting a small part behind the scenes of movies on LA?

One Response to “What is the best way to enter into the film making industry?”

    Networking…networking…networking.

Networking seems to be the best tool to use to get your name into the industry. Networking combined with an incredible diligence and work ethic.

My wife is a film producer in Atlanta, and after many years of short films, music videos, commercials and the like, she is just now starting to really see the legitimate projects coming TO her. You also have to make sure you love the work…because there is A LOT of it. Be prepared to have no social life, and focus your attention on understanding your craft. I’ve watched my wife develop into a pretty amazing producer and screen writer over the years and i couldn’t even begin to put into words how much work was involved.
