I want to learn how to direct films, but do not want to go to film school. Are there any good professional tutorials or DVDs out there I can learn from?

My friend is very into film making, and we *with other friends* make films together in our free time. Shes very talented and can turn our crap into gold. I’m getting a job this summer and want to get her some software that she could really sink her teeth into. lol..ah thats funny. Sink her teeth into. Anyway, what are some software programs I can get her that she can really use to great effect? Thanks.

I am trying to make a documentary, simular to the type of movie Zeitgiest was, but a completly different theme.

The movie, will just sample clips and scenes, from other movies, with music, and a narrator in the background. What is some really good software to use to make this…

I know how to use almost all Recording software programs, and consider myself a professional with music software and mixing, but not about film.

Are there film software programs that are simlar,? So how Music programs are used….

I’m really interested in making short films and I’m always inspired to make them but I don’t have suitable equipment. The only video camera I have is the kind for making home videos and I don’t have mics.
I’m only a teenager so I can’t afford to get all the top-notch equipment but I want to get a good camera, mics, and proper lighting.
Can any experienced/amateur filmmakers suggest any good filmmaking equipment?

I was just wondering are there any australian film making companys? I know America has a lot but I havn’t heard much about australian ones. If you know any good ones please mention.

I am 13, and i want to get into film making. Like directing/editing/writing/etc, and I was wondering if there were any good books (or dvds if there are!) on film making as a teen. If there are any links to websites, that would be helpful too

I already have a camera, tripod and a green screen. I need some microphones and maybe some lighting tools. I am only 13, so it can’t be to much money.

Also if there are any good film making video cameras, you can tell me them.

PS. if you need to know this, the camera i use is a panasonic mini dv (im pretty sure) and the editing tools i use are imovie and old imovie.

I live in Great Neck and currently attend Stony Brook University. I want to take some film and film-making courses but Stony doesn’t have much to offer. Is there anything I can do at any colleges around the area? Even a Summer course would be something I’m interested in.

Also What programs would you suggest? I am a extreme novice when it comes to film making so I need all the help I can get. Are there any websites that you would recommend for someone starting a video production hobby? Thanks

I plan on editiong films for my career. What are some good colleges to got for film making? I got some information on New York Film Academy. That places looks great! Is that place as great as it seems? Please only answer if you have gone to college for film making.
